Investors from foreign countries seeking permanent residency in the US through the EB-5 visa program can invest either $1 million in new business that creates at least 10 full-time jobs for US workers or invest $500,000 in a regional center.
All 50 states and the District of Columbia contain at least one regional center and in some cases there are many different ones from which to choose. That means that foreign investors can move practically anywhere and still meet the requirements of the EB-5 visa program.
Five Places to Consider
While every city and state in the US has its selling points, here are three top places for foreign investors participating in the EB-5 visa program to consider.
Miami has the benefit of being in the warmest state in the US. With an average temperature above 70 degrees F and more sunny days than anywhere else in the country, the city is one of the best places to live for anybody who enjoys nice weather.
But Miami also has a vibrant nightlife and social scene — especially in the wealthy and trendy South Beach area — making it the perfect choice for anyone who wants to flash their wealth.
Los Angeles, California
Like Miami, Los Angeles also is known for its warm temperatures and sunny days — although because it is surrounded by mountains, it often features smoggy skies that can block the sun.
LA has many things to offer, but one of its biggest selling points is the allure and glamor of Hollywood, where many of the films and TV programs in the US are produced. LA residents get used to rubbing elbows with celebrities and watching out for film sets.
They say everything is big in Texas and to a certain extent it’s true. Dallas is a newer, rapidly expanding city that offers plenty of opportunity for investors.
It’s also south enough to avoid the worst of winter, but it’s land-locked so the threat of hurricanes or other seafaring storms is low.
